What an attractive Anglesite and from a very unusual and old locality! At least a dozen incredibly lustrous, gem Anglesite crystals grace the front of this Galena-bearing matrix plate from turn of the 20th Century mine workings at Sidi Amor ben Salem lead-zinc mine in Tunisia. The prismatic to tabular ice-like crystals range in size from 1 to 3.7 cm in size and are all sharply formed and they are so transparent you can see right through them to the underlying matrix! This is one of the more attractive Anglesite specimens we have seen because it is so glassy and unusual that the eye just can't not look at it. Added value to some collectors is because it comes especially from an old, little known locality! With off-the-chart luster, textbook crystal forms and complete gemminess this will grab anyone's attention in a display, and then be shocked to learn that it's from Tunisia! A great, display quality piece from mining here in the early 1900s. This turned up in an old collection in Europe.
