A highly unusual, glassy, sharp, gem Spinel crystal from the Larson Burma collection. This stunning and total gem is just a hair over 1 cm and is an extremely unusual crystal shape because it is a flattened octahedron with a vibrant, pink-red color. It is totally limpid save one small central, 1 mm inclusion that Bill has noted on his label. Two, broad parallel octahedral faces dominate the crystal and also highlight its transparency and color. Another tiny, 0.5 mm inclusion is situated in proximity to the other central one. All of the faces are extremely smooth and almost appear faceted, but they aren't, they are just well-formed! This little gem has a mass of 0.74 grams or 3.8 carats.
