Fluorapatite
Panasqueira is known for its fine tin and tungsten minerals as well as its Fluorapatites, of which the elongated purple crystals are the most classic and desired. This happens to be a gemmy to translucent, two-toned lavender, single crystal of the species that has lustrous, striated prism faces and a very lustrous flat pinacoid terminations that provides a very clear view down into the mostly transparent crystal. The bottom two-thirds of the crystal is a distinct medium lavender that transitions to a lighter lavender near the termination. Prismatic Fluorapatite crystals such as this from Panasqueira aren't as common as the more tabular habit and this is certainly a gem of thumbnail... almost a toenail. Very impressive in person! It has a mass of 7.7 grams.
