A large and gemmy, 8 cm calcite crystal rises above a matrix of golden calcite on this attractive combination specimen from new finds in China in 2021. The yttrofluorite is concentrated at the top and edges of the calcite, creating a pleasing coloration on this piece. A second generation of clear calcite platelets grew over the yttrofluorite microcrystals and bolsters the already dazzling sparkliness of the specimen with reflections from any angle. This style, with the extra sparkly calcites grown atop, was more rare in the finds we have seen - especially in good condition.
