Yttrofluorite on Calcite$2,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Yttrofluorite isn't commonly purple and is a very rare variety of fluorite that is usually found as a "pond scum" coating on minerals. This new find from China changes that notion! Here we have beautiful, dark purple microcrystals of yttrofluorite with a "wet" luster preferentially coating a cappuccino-colored included calcite crystal from the Qinglong region of China. There is a lot of contrast on this specimen and it is sculptural and dramatic but sadly just shy of perfect (there is a small ding at the tip, not visible from the optimal display angle, but there nonetheless). With so many faces from the microcrystals catching the light, this piece sparkles in any lighting environment. This is among the most densely and darkly coated crystals in this size, and looks like purple sugar was draped over the calcite.
