This tanzanite exhibits a stunning array of natural and subtle colors, depending on the lighting. With directed light straight into the side you can see blue or purple; but light aimed at an angle or coming up from the bottom shows a variety of colors characteristic of natural, unheated tanzanite crystals. To be honest, the usual effect of those intrusive colors is ugly, but in this case it is interesting and subtle, so it draws the eye. In natural room light (standard office overheads), it is a strong blue color! Playing with it in the sunlight or with aimed lighting is what reveals the other colors within. No damage, and no repairs. 27 grams.
