A truly refined thumbnail specimen from the famous benitoite mine, that speaks for itself. It is elegant, aesthetic, and improbably a survivor! The benitoite is free floating upon a neptunite perche, and is 1 cm across. It can be displayed horizontally with the neptunite and benitoite both pointing up like goalposts or at an angle like a checkmark with the Benitoite up in the air. Each neptunite is 1.5 to 1.6 cm. This is perfection...and so unusual to have both minerals equally developed in such a thumbnail specimen. Long in the collection of Stretch Young, who won Desautels award for best in show at Tucson in the early 2010s and then started collecting competitive level thumbnails.
