Copper
Large single crystals of copper are extremely rare, despite the vast tonnages of native copper that were produced in Michigan's "Copper Country" since mining began there in the 1840s. This sample may be the largest, high-quality, single crystal known. It has an elongated tetrahexahedral form, is undamaged, shows interesting surface growth features with a black patina, and has an aesthetic group of smaller crystals attached on a bent copper stem.
