Calcite on Sphalerite, Elmwood, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA

Unknown Owner
A sharp gemmy golden calcite on sphalerite from the now closed Elmwood Mine. The Elmwood is world famous for producing some of the highest quality golden calcites. This piece is no exception. The composition is quite nice with the dominant crystal at the top and a smaller twinned calcite perched nicely on the lower left of the specimen. An American classic.
