This famous area first was noted for topaz in 1889 and since then has been continously worked. A famous find was made in 1934 when a cavity was encountered that measured approximately 100m long and 25m wide! Imagine finding a pocket this large with quartz, topaz, beryl, phenakite, and fluorite! Tragically this historic find was shipped off to Germany where is was rumored to be destroyed during the second World War.
