The mines of Dalnegorsk in Siberia are world famous for the amount of amazing minerals that came out in the 1990s and early 2000s. Among them were these famous specimens of pink Calcite with the color due to trace amounts of manganese. Most such specimens were singles or jumbled clusters, but this is a rather dramatic Calcite with modern aesthetics of a large, showy, dominant crystal centered aesthetically on its matrix, and measuring nearly three inches across! This sharp crystal is lustrous, translucent and light pink and even shows a phantom at the center! It fluoresces a vibrant reddish-orange color in short-wave UV. Complete all around, 360 degrees!
