Pale, creamy peppermint green Smithsonite richly coated the surfaces of a cluster of octahedral Galena crystals from the 50 fm level at Golconda mine at Hopton in Derbyshire, England. Hopton lies a little to the west of Wirksworth. The Smithsonite forms a micro-botryoidal coating and in patches grades to a pastel creamy yellow. An interesting location piece. The specimen is accompanied with a John Jones label and was collected in May 1986.
