Tucson, Arizona, USAZincolivenite is a relatively newly named species from Tsumeb as it represents the intermediate chemistry of the adamite-olivenite solid solution series. Two primary clusters of dark-apple to bottle-green Zincolivenite rest on an attractive bed of an unknown, yet beautifully crystallised mineral, most probably Bayldonite. Once identification is confirmed, this will itself become an important part of this specimen, not just a background species. Bayldonite or not, it forms as bubbly micro-druses of rich pistachio-green crystals of less than 1 mm diameter all with sparkling lustre. The Zincolivenite forms crystals to about 8 mm long, clustered in stacked booklets and as occasional individual crystals. An impressive miniature of this interesting species.
