Linarite
Unknown Owner
The copper-lead sulphate Linarite only occurred in the surface outcrop (The Greenhill) and first Oxidation Zone at Tsumeb. It is a Tsumeb species not so easily obtained and specimens so rich in Linarite as this are exceptional. This remarkable specimen is accompanied with an old copperplate handwritten label and a printed and typed Bill Pinch label. Bill Pinch has typed the locality as 'The Green Hill' Tsumeb, Namibia. Almost all of the 4.0 x 3.7 cm display face is covered with vivid azure-blue crystallised Linarite, with only occasional patches of the light green Brochantite matrix showing through. Small areas of massive colourless to pale tan Cerussite are also present. A superb old-time Tsumeb Linarite with Brochantite and minor Cerussite, very choice indeed!
