Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAAn excellent creamy spearmint-green specimen of Zincolivenite with single crystals up to 0.8 cm. Most of the crystals show small etch patterns on their prismatic faces, while the terminations are quite sharp. From Tsumeb mine in Namibia, this is a relatively new species, whereby it embraces all intermediate members of the adamite-olivenite solid solution series. By definition, this species will have a composition of zinc to copper of between 75:25 to 25:75. Outwith these bounds lie Adamite (the zinc arsenate end member) and Olivenite (the copper arsenate end member). This is a rich and showy specimen of Zincolivenite and an excellent example from Tsumeb.
