Wulfenite with Mimetite
Unknown Owner
Rich apricot and lemon-yellow spheres of Mimetite sit along the lower half of a lustrous cluster of glassy, bright pumpkin-orange Wulfenite crystals. This choice large thumbnail is from La Morita mine, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico and comes mounted on a square colourless acrylic base. The Mimetite spherules attain 8 mm diameter and have a matt lustre due to the myriad of micro-terminations covering their surfaces. The larger Mimetites tend to be apricot and the smaller, lemon. The Wulfenite forms tabular blades to 2 cm wide. All have bevelled edges, a brilliantly reflective lustre and are semi-translucent. An aesthetic and delightful specimen.
