A magnificent cluster of excellent Galena spinel-twins from the Nikolaevskiy mine at Dal'negorsk in the Far-Eastern Region of Russia. Adding to what is already an amazing specimen, large crystals of lustrous black spinel-twined Sphalerite and drusy clusters of creamy white Calcite add contrast and highlights to a wonderful aesthetic. The highly lustrous Galena crystals measure up to at least 3 cm on edge and form a variety of habits including modified cuboctahedrons. The Sphalerite is also superb displaying nested equilateral triangular growth patterns with a brilliant metallic lustre. The Nikolaevskiy mine opened in 1982 working a limestone-hosted sulphide deposit. Large solution cavities within the limestone have provided sufficient accommodation space to allow the development of world-class specimens making this one of the world's best crystallised sulphide localities. A stunning Galena with Sphalerite and Calcite form Nikolaevskiy mine in Russia. Please note an additional charge may have to be made for postage due to this specimen's weight.
