Smithsonite
A particularly well-formed cluster of Smithsonite crystals from the Proprietary mine at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. Multi-terminated crystals of Smithsonite, principally in parallel growth, measure to 1.4 cm and form a tightly packed, spiky nest. This highly aesthetic group sit on a thin, powder-pink bed of micro-crystallised Rhodochrosite covering a Goethite (or Coronadite) matrix. This quality small cabinet specimen is from the late Milton Lavers Collection, then considered probably the finest private Broken Hill collection. Milton was a resident of Broken Hill and his collection was eventually purchased jointly by Crystal Classics (Ian Bruce) and Ausrox (Robert Sielecki).
