Calcite
A magnificent group of scalenohedral Calcite crystals with a little attached brick-red Hematite, from the Egremont mining district in west Cumbria, England. All the Calcite crystals are milky-white to colourless and contain many gemmy zones. They have a brilliant glassy lustre and the largest crystal measures to over 8.5 cm long. All terminations are perfect and some prism faces display interesting stepped-growth patterns. The underlying Hematite matrix contains small botryoidal patches of micro-kidney ore. A first class Calcite from the historic West Cumberland Iron Field.
