A tremendous Manganite from the classic Ilfeld area in the Harz Mountains of Germany, the world's best location for the species. The Manganite forms an interlocking group of well-formed terminated crystals to 4.5 cm long by 1.5 cm. The main crystals exhibit a flattened bladed habit rather than the rounded elongate habit more commonly seen at this location. The prisms have a bright metallic lustre with striations parallel to their length. The Manganite comes with an old handwritten label and displays perfectly resting on its naturally flat base. This is a fine example of beautifully crystallised Manganite from Ilfeld, one of Europe's most iconic mineral localities.
