Tucson, Arizona, USAAn excellent, double terminated white Witherite crystal measuring to 3.3 cm on Alstonite from the Fallowfield mine at Acomb in Northumberland, England. This characteristic pyramidal translucent crystal shows a central area of oscillatory growth between the positive and negative pyramidal faces. A micro-crystals of white Alstonite support the Witherite crystal on a compact granular Calcite matrix with spots of Galena and Sphalerite. A splendid example of Witherite from Fallowfield mine, which began operations in 1611, eventually closing in 1911 and is type locality for Alstonite.
