A striking thumbnail specimen of intergrown rhombic white Calcite crystals measuring to 1.1 cm with a limited dusting of pale brown Siderite on a Sphalerite matrix. This specimen is from Naica in Saucillo Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico, more famously know as the Naica mine and for its giant gypsum crystals in the Cave of Crystals. The faces of the Calcite crystals are entirely frosted with a granular textured veneer of micro-crystals and darken along their edges to form a grid-like framework over each rhomb. An unusual and lovely thumbnail mounted on a square acrylic base.
