Tucson, Arizona, USAThis miniature specimen comes from the famous John Schneider Tsumeb collection. A prominent large prismatic Mimetite crystal forms the centrepiece, sitting upon a finely crystalline groundmass of yellow to orange Tsumcorite. The Mimetite crystal does have notable damage, particularly at its base. Along two edges of the prism inclusions of Tsumcorite and other matrix have impacted the formation of the crystal and the termination is partial - offset due to growth around matrix. However, the Mimetite crystal is huge at just shy of 4 cm in length! It is cream in colour, and cloudy internally, with a slightly resinous lustre. Who said size doesn't matter? This is a significant Tsumeb Mimetite.
