Tucson, Arizona, USAMention Arkansas to any mineral collector and their first thought is Quartz. OK, if you don't then there are exceptions in every case! This spectacular large cabinet specimen has a central, 19 cm long rib of Quartzite entirely covered, save for the base, with colourless and completely gemmy ice-clear Quartz crystals of all sizes up to around 7 cm long. All are hexagonal in cross-section and well terminated, with terminations ranging from symmetric pyramidal to the asymmetric Dauphin' habit. This is an excellent example of classic Arkansas Quartz from Mount Ida in Montgomery County.
