Fluorite with Calcite
An excellent light sky-blue and purple edged Fluorite from the classic and classical mining district west of the port of Lavrion, Attik' Prefecture (Attica Peninsular), Greece. Although well crystallised Fluorite does occur in this area, crystals of good colour and clarity are uncommon. This specimen comprises of sharp-edged cubes, typically 1 to 1.5 cm on edge and up to 2 cm with naturally etched and pitted faces and good translucency. The crystals are a pleasing, delicate sky-blue which grade to quite deep lilac edges. The Fluorite crystals are bound by bubbly, opaque botryoidal creamy white Calcite and thin Calcite plates glistening with micro-crystals of lustrous glassy Quartz.
