Stank mine, close to Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, England, was in the county of Lancashire during its period of operation between 1871 to 1901, prior to county boundary changes in April 1974; accounting for 'Lancashire' when seen on old labels. This choice small miniature of Calcite is characteristic of Stank in that the squat, slightly rounded scalenohedral translucent crystals are tinged delicate brick red by inclusions of finely disseminated Hematite.
