A long and narrow quartz matrix is almost entirely covered in equant and elongated interpenetrant twins of pale lilac Fluorite, so characteristic of the Allenheads mine (also known as the Beaumont mine), at Allenheads in Northumberland. The crystals have pale but distinct multiple colour zoning parallel to, and within a 2mm zone of each face. Overgrowing some of the Fluorites crystals are waxy, off-white Calcite crystal to 19 mm. A nice example from this mine which is just outside the Weardale valley, but associated with its many fluorite mines.
