Variation in colour and habit of Calcite throughout the Tsumeb mine is quite remarkable; this small cabinet specimen being a colour and habit only occasionally encountered. Although the underlying Calcite matrix is translucent milky white, its crystallised surface is a lustrous, opaque, reddish milk chocolate-brown, forming chains of interlinked rhombic crystals. Individual crystals average 5 mm on edge and the composite linked chains are developed to over 6 cm. A stunning Tsumeb Calcite.
