Calcite is a species known for its seemingly infinite number of crystal habits and this specimen, from the P?'bram mining district in the Czech Republic, certain falls in the category of being rather different! Composed entirely of pure snowy-white Calcite with a bright glassy lustre, the crystals form acicular spiky needles, typically about 1.5 to 2 cm long and built from multiple-stacked arrow heads, all terminating in a larger arrowhead giving a sceptre-like appearance. A terrific specimen.
