Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAA most attractive miniature of crystallised Cuprite from the major and historic old copper and tin mining area of Gwennap, Cornwall. Gwennap was (and is) a civil parish east of the mining town of Redruth, containing many of the most famous mines in the world in the late eighteenth century. The Cuprite forms excellent octahedral crystals of up to 8 mm and averaging about 4 mm. They have a slightly greasy metallic lustre and are ex-matrix. The Cuprite crystals are opaque and of such an intensely dark colour they appear metallic black, yet tiny patches of maroon and claret red can be identified. This specimen comes with a K.H. Hollmann (Center Rutland, Vermont) label.\n
