Calcite
Unknown Owner
Pau in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of South West France has produced some exceptional Calcite crystals many of which were found in the first decade of the twenty-first Century. The clarity of some of the crystals rivals the very best Calcite from anywhere in the world. This small cabinet specimen features a well-formed, colourless, gemmy, Calcite crystal measuring 3.8 cm across, among smaller gemmy Calcite crystals on matrix. The pyramidal termination faces show striations, whereas the prism faces vary, with some smooth and some striated. A charming Calcite specimen from an amazing find.
