Classic, yellow, 'Turkey Fat' Smithsonite enriched by cadmium to give it the pleasing lemon-yellow colouration, with a natural sculpted appearance to its stalactitic formation. The base of the specimen has been cut and polished to facilitate the display of the magnificent colour-zoned concentric depositional bands and to allow the specimen to stand upright. The wonderful colour zoning can been seen all over the finger-like stalactites that make up this specimen, but polished surfaces enhance the detail much more. From Masua, Iglesias, in Sardinia which is widely regarded to have produced the finest examples of yellow banded Smithsonite ever seen. Due to their fame and popularity, good-sized specimens of this Italian classic are now very hard to find available.
