This almost solid mass of Native Copper disseminated throughout a block of metallic mahogany red Cuprite is from the Marke Valley mine at Upton Cross, Linkinhorne in the Liskeard District of Cornwall, England. In some areas a low grade, earthy blue-green Malachite forms granular patches and shallow surface vugs are lined with needles of Chalcotrichite, the acicular variety of Cuprite. This super-rich small cabinet specimen is what would be termed 'bonanza ore' from the Marke Valley Mines. Such specimens are very rare from these mines and if you have ever tried to find any specimens in these mine dumps you will appreciate just how rich the specimen is!
