Calcite with Pyrite

A fabulous spiky Calcite from the P?'bram Mining District in the Czech Republic; a small miniature with multiple towers of sharply terminated scalenohedral crystals. The crystals contain very fine-grained inclusions of metal sulphides which impart dappled dark grey speckles to their generally milky-white translucency. The Calcites are glassy and lustrous and have a sparse yet attractive sprinkling of bright metallic golden Pyrite. Under LWUV the Calcite at first appears to be non-fluorescent but give it a minute's exposure and an ethereal reddish-pink glow becomes visible.
