This miniature specimen of Calcite exudes character, looking like a three-sided tower lined with overlapping triangular scales. It really is a very distinctive and attractive Calcite with many redeeming features. There is some damage to the tips of some of the Calcite crystals, but these are not initially obvious and do not overly detract from its beauty. One small well-formed equant Siderite crystal is sat upon the Calcite and most of the Calcite is included with tiny crystals of golden sulphide [presumed Pyrite]. Colour zoning is also evident, from translucent colourless areas to opaque white patches. Under longwave UV light it fluoresces a vivid orange colour. It is from the the famous Příbram District in the Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic and was specimen no. 2159 in the collection of Hans Engelbrecht who's handwritten label accompanies it. He obtained it in 1973.
