Fluorapatite
Unknown Owner
A fine small cabinet specimen of hexagonal tabular Fluorapatite crystals measuring to 1.7 cm from the Sapo mine at Ferruginha in the Doce Valley of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The excellent dark and lustrous, deep forest green Fluorapatite crystals are scattered and clustered mostly standing upright on edge from a creamy-white crystalline Albite Feldspar matrix containing minor Muscovite and Quartz. The Fluorapatite specimens from this mine are reminiscent of some from Panasqueira in Portugal. It's an excellent display specimen of fine Fluorapatite crystals from this pegmatite mine which lies within the Aimorés pegmatite district of the Eastern Brazilian pegmatite province.
