Dioptase on Calcite

This is an absolutely gorgeous miniature specimen of Dioptase from the world-famous Tsumeb mine. It might be small, but boy does it stand out! A creamy white Calcite matrix forms the base upon which sits an 'island' of green, perfectly formed prismatic Dioptase crystals, the largest being about 1.5 cm in length. The Dioptase crystals are so glassy and bright and their colour has a slight bluish tint to the emerald green. The contrast between the green gemmy Dioptase and the matt white Calcite is wonderfully dramatic. Dioptase of the highest quality from the world's greatest occurrence.
