Smithsonite on Calcite
Unknown Owner
An eye-catching Cuprian Smithsonite richly coats colourless and glassy Cerussite crystals from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia. Such a combination is a Tsumeb classic and this is a particularly attractive specimen because of the fresh and bright apple-green of the Smithsonite crystals, which average about 3 mm across. These crystals form equant, dodecahedral-style semi-transparent crystals in broad druses over blocky and colourless prismatic Cerussite crystals of brilliant lustre covering a chalky-white Dolomite matrix. An excellent specimen.
