Calcite
Unknown Owner
A single gemmy-translucent light golden-yellow crystal of Calcite measuring to 12 cm tall, from the Joplin Field area of the Tri-State District in Missouri, USA. The modified scalenohedral crystal forms a flattened prism towards its termination and adopts a chisel-like profile. Its faces tend to alternate between those with a mirror-smooth surface and those pitted with successive grown development patterns of micro-geometrically-shaped gullies. An excellent and good-sized cabinet specimen of complexly crystallised Calcite from the Joplin Field.
