Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAA transparent, pale sky-blue crystal of Aquamarine, the blue variety of Beryl. This ex-matrix specimen is composed of two co-joined crystals in parallel growth with a common base but separate terminations. The crystals are water-clear and gemmy, yet contain multiple feathery and wispy inclusions. The prism faces are mirror-smooth whereas the terminations, although near perfect, are naturally etched and pitted. A terrific Aquamarine from Chumar Bakhoor in the Gilgit District of Pakistan.
Editor's note
Two joined aquamarine crystals that started growing together from the bottom up but "terminated" (finished growing) separately. The faces are very smooth but what makes the crystals stand out are the "feathery" natural inclusions.
