Calcite ps. after Aragonite
A superb example of Calcite pseudomorphs after Aragonite on a small matrix of sooty-black manganese oxides from Torr Works quarry (Merehead quarry) at Cranmore in Somerset, England. The Calcite forms two clearly defined hexagonal pseudomorphs, the much larger of the two measuring 3.5 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm and both composed of glassy, colourless to milky-white micro-crystals of Calcite. A terrific specimen from the Torr Works locality, famous for its rare suite of oxychloride minerals.
