More commonly seen in relation to the famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia, the classic pseudomorph of copper carbonates where blocky to bladed Azurite crystals are replaced with Malachite is also a feature of historic mineral specimens from Morenci mine in Arizona, USA, but specimens are much rarer. This classic old-timer is a pure large miniature-sized aggregate of velvety green Malachite pseudomorphs after slightly rosetted intergrown tabular to bladed crystals of Azurite, individually measuring to 3 cm across. The reverse of the specimen displays a silky lustre with a chatoyant play of light. A fine Arizonan classic.
