Cassiterite
Unknown Owner
Panasqueira mine at Covilh' in central Portugal is famous for a wide range of superbly crystallised mineral species and this small cabinet specimen is a very fine example of Cassiterite, a tin oxide. Beautiful equant crystals of between 5 to 8 mm densely cover the upper domed surface of a pale olive green Muscovite-rich matrix. Well crystallised specimens of Cassiterite were, and are, not that common from Panasqueira, so this particular specimen will make a good addition for any collector building a Panasqueira suite.
