Gemmy, well-formed colourless scalenohedral Calcite crystals cover a plate of Limonitic matrix from the Pallaflat mine at Bigrigg in Cumbria, England. The Calcite crystals measure to 2 cm in length, have fine vitreous to glassy lustre and are colourless and transparent. Where crystals are transparent the optical property of double refraction can be demonstrated when text is placed behind. This excellent aesthetic cabinet specimen displays well and is accompanied with a reasonably old German label.\n
