Tucson, Arizona, USAThis small cabinet specimen is a splendid example from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia; a mine famous for its high quality Mimetite. This particular specimen from 28 Level, is incredibly rich, for even the majority of the matrix appears to be composed of finely-crystallised and intergrown Mimetite crystals. Essentially, a Mimetite-filled vein, up to 2.5 cm wide, traverses the specimen and grades from white-frosted, pale lemon colloform sprays, through glassy acid-lemon divergent sprays (to 8 mm across) and then an open vug lined and bridged with double-terminated, gemmy, glassy-yellow acicular Mimetite crystals sprinkled with microspheres of pale emerald-green Malachite. The base of the specimen also has many shallow vugs completely lined with gemmy acicular Mimetite crystals. A showy aesthetic specimen of Mimetite from Tsumeb which shows-off a variety of habits.
