Translucent to semi-transparent, acidic-lemon yellow crystals of Mimetite are richly scattered over a limonite encrusted matrix of mixed grey sulphides from the Endeavor mine close to Cobar in Robinson County, New South Wales, Australia. This Ag-Pb-Zn-Cu mine was discovered in 1974 and was originally called the Elura mine. Almost 70 mineral species have been found here to date, with Mimetite probably being the most iconic. This extremely fine miniature has many hexagonal Mimetite crystals across its top surface, some being double terminated; the largest crystal is stubby and equant in dimension, measuring approximately 9 x 9 x 8 mm. The colour of the crystals is striking and contrast superbly against the understated matrix. An excellent example from the Endeavor mine.
