Vesuvianite
Unknown Owner
Beautiful, lustrous rich purple-mauve crystals of Vesuvianite stack-up to form an inter-meshed cluster from Jeffrey mine, the classic Canadian location for Vesuvianite. Densely intergrown Vesuvianite crystals to 1.5 cm cover a slightly green tinted Diopside matrix. Magnificently coloured purple and green Vesuvianite is a classic for this locality and this quite exceptional miniature is up there amongst the best and richest of colours. The specimen has been labelled with the locality name as at the time this specimen was collected. Following a vote, the town name ‘Asbestos’ was changed to ‘Val-des-Sources’ in October 2020.
