This intergrown group of beautiful, deep clove-brown Smoky Quartz is of the Gwindel habit in which the largest crystal appears to have grown sideways with multiple terminations across a slanting surface. A 3.0 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm regular hexagonal Quartz crystal is attached at one side, close to the base. The main crystal has perfect transparency with feint horizontal striations across the broad prism faces. A beautiful Smoky Quartz with a subtle Gwindel form from the Grimsel area of the Hasli Valley, Bern, Switzerland.
