Hemimorphite
This rich botryoidal duck egg blue specimen of Hemimorphite over white Hemimorphite on a matrix of granular white Quartz is one of most sought-after classics from the famous Caldbeck Fells area in Cumbria, England, as featured in the book by Mick Cooper and Chris Stanley in 1990. Its wonderful old mid-19th century handwritten label records it as "Cupreous Silicate of Zinc, Cumberland" but there is no doubting that this is specifically from Roughton Gill in the Caldbeck Fells. It might be miniature in size, but this is rare material and its colour and lustre is exquisite. Ex Peter Burr collection with his characteristic detailed history label.
