Tucson, Arizona, USAThis Chalcosite from the Dzhezkazgan mine in Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan, is a fine thumbnail of interlocked crystals with a little attached Quartz matrix. The Chalcocite forms a jumble of heavily striated black crystals, some displaying typical 'V' and stellate growth development and tinged with occasional indigo-blue and bronze iridescence. An excellent and super-rich Chalcocite from the Dzhezkazgan mining district which worked a sequence of mineralised sandstone bodies of Upper Carboniferous age (Pennsylvanian).
